4 GREAT REASONS TO PARTICIPATE

Get Noticed

Businesses that participate in Eat BC! receive support via marketing materials and mainstream print, radio, and television promotion. Businesses are also supported with online marketing, media interviews, videos and industry/consumer events! Opportunities to "get noticed" are wide-spread and targeted to each participating business so register today!

This year all registered participants will receive a unique online profile and exclusive access to the members only network at www.eatbc.com. Use your online profile to market a locally themed menu, BC grocery shopping list, source new products or even celebrate a new offer, event or program. CLICK HERE to see an example profile!

Contribute To A Healthier Economy

Buy locally, taste the difference and make a difference. Businesses that participate in Eat BC! are working in partnership with BC farms, fishers and other members of BC’s agriculture community to build upon and maintain a sustainable and environmentally conscious food system for British Columbia.

Buying local is always fresher, and gives you a real opportunity to actively support your community and local food industry – while also promoting a healtheir economy. By choosing local foods, you're sustaining the livelihoods of local farmers and processors by creating demand for their products, which creates more jobs, and contributes to a healthier economy and a more vibrant local food system.

Decrease Your Environment Impact

Along with being fresh, local and good for the economy, supporting local foods and beverages also helps the environment. When you choose BC foods and beverages you're supporting local growers and suppliers, directly reducing your own carbon-footprint and helping to protect our natural environment. How? Local foods equal local distances. Reducing the amount of transportation needed for your food to go from field to plate means less shipping, less fuel consumption and fewer greenhouse gas emissions – all of which help to reduce air pollution and acid rain (that contribute to climate change). It's easy to be green with Eat BC!

Increase Your Business

Eat BC! is a year long campaign that can help your business grow. The program provides industry participants with several opportunities to network and build selling relationships with both consumer and industry audiences. From participating in great events to submitting newsletter articles, product lists and posting recipes, you won't run short of opportunities to increase your business! In addition to every day opportunities, two great initiatives make the Eat BC! campaign come alive each year:

Eat BC! Consumer Passport
November 1st 2008 to November 1st 2009

The Eat BC! passport program is a new pilot initiative that will start November 1st, 2008 and run until November 1st 2009. The purpose of this program is to encourage consumers to choose BC foods and beverages all year long at participating Eat BC! establishments. Participating establishments agree to stamp or sign Eat BC! consumer passports each time a consumer shops, dines or stays at a participating Eat BC! establishment. Once full, consumers can return their Eat BC! passport to BCRFA for a chance to win great prizes!
