The Clayoquot Oyster Festival is a hodge-podge of oysters, literature, cooking, island music, fine wines and, of course, the ultra-competitive oyster slurping contest where festival guests vie for titles in a number of categories. Local chefs from ten restaurants will each take 200 Clayoquot Oysters, supplied by the festival committee, and whip up their best oyster appetizer to compete for the People’s Choice Award. Throughout the festival’s main evening, the appetizers are intermingled with music, wine tasting, cooking demo’s and storytelling. Last year about 4,000 oysters were consumed during the evening! Mermaid's Ball is on Friday night November 16. Oyster Gala is on Saturday November 17. |
